RTR Vehicles has announced the release of the 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5, the ultimate expression of RTR’s design, engineering, performance and championship-winning DNA. Limited to just 50 units for the 2026 model year, the Spec 5 is RTR’s new halo production vehicle and delivers the apex of performance, style and functionality while pushing the Mustang’s street performance further than ever before.

“As RTR has evolved through the years, so has our design and engineering capabilities through special projects and motorsports learnings,” said Vaughn Gittin Jr., RTR Vehicles founder. “Spec 5 doesn’t reference our peers – it’s derived from the core DNA of RTR. This Mustang embodies everything we stand for – confidence, capability, and our ‘Ready to Rock’ mindset.”

Apex of Performance

Every Spec 5 begins with a 7th-Generation Mustang GT chassis, purposefully configured for performance, equipped with the Performance Package and Recaro sport seats. The Spec 5 becomes the first production RTR Mustang to showcase exposed carbon fiber exterior elements and a fully integrated composite widebody system that flows seamlessly with the S650 chassis, delivering a modern, aggressive presence. RTR’s engineering and design team also achieved a lowered ride height that sharpens handling and stance without sacrificing suspension articulation.

Powertrain & Performance

At the heart of the Spec 5 is a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 paired with a 3-liter Stage 2 Whipple Supercharger System delivering 870+ horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.

The RTR Tactical Performance Suspension System features proprietary 30-way adjustable front coilovers and rear dampers, paired with height-adjustable springs and adjustable front and rear sway bars. Each system is purpose-tuned by RTR engineers and test drivers, preset for a balanced blend of street and track performance. The result is a chassis that is confidence-inspiring, responsive, and easy to drive, while still giving owners the flexibility to fine-tune suspension settings to their preferences.

Exterior Design & Aero Components

Spec 5 introduces RTR’s first complete widebody system, moving beyond exposed hardware to a seamless design that integrates carbon fiber and composite panels. Key features include:

  • Composite widebody front and rear fenders with integrated tire cooling vents
  • Carbon fiber front splitter, rocker splitters, rear quarter splitters, and front/rear wake towers
  • Composite rocker panels and front bumper extensions
  • RTR upper grille with LED intakes, lower grille, aero corners, and decklid spoiler

A new graphics package incorporates pinstripe fades inspired by RTR Creative Director Lindsay Ross’ original design sketches. Extended Speedblock Rocker Graphics draw inspiration from the RTR Spec 5-FD Mustangs, which have dominated Formula Drift with three consecutive championships, proudly bearing the “Spec 5” name.

Every Mustang RTR Spec 5 owner has the opportunity to personalize their vehicle with a standard color from the RTR Extended Color Palette, included in the base price, or elevate it with premium and paint-to-sample options for a truly bespoke finish.

As part of the experience, each owner receives a render of their Spec 5 showcasing their chosen exterior color alongside the three available wheel finishes. For paint-to-sample selections, RTR also provides a custom render and a physical speed shape painted in the selected color for final approval, making the customization process every bit as thrilling as the performance it delivers.

Wheels, Tires & Brakes

The Spec 5 is equipped with all-new 20-inch RTR Aero 5 Evo Forged Wheels, available in Forged Charcoal, Podium Champagne, or Vapor Silver finishes. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires—305/30R20 on a 10.5-inch wide wheel in the front and a 315/30R20 on an 11-inch wide wheel in the rear—maximize grip and everyday drivability. Braking power is provided by Brembo 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, paired with upgraded 2-piece front rotors for increased braking performance.

Interior & Technology

Inside the 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5 are RTR Leather RECARO sport seats finished in a striking combination of cool grey bolsters with black suede inner supports, and ribbed inserts inspired by historic vehicles like the Ford GT. The ribbed pattern extends across the seat bottom and back, while the upper seatback features a debossed RTR logo.

Every Spec 5 also includes the factory Electronic Drift Brake, co-developed by Vaughn Gittin Jr., Chelsea DeNofa, and Ford. More than a nod to RTR’s motorsports roots, the Drift Brake transforms the driving experience into something truly interactive and confidence inspiring. With the pull of the lever, owners can initiate controlled drifts, execute smoky donuts, or rip precise J-turns with ease.

Every detail is designed with intent: a serialized dash plaque engraved with Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s signature adorns the instrument panel, an RTR Performance Shift Knob features an ergonomic teardrop design, and finishing touches range from RTR floor mats to a laser-printed, serialized certificate of authenticity.

Engineering highlights include RTR’s reimagined fuel door, redesigned for vertical articulation without sacrificing form or function. Using billet aluminum arms, a nylon laser-printed bucket, and an integrated water drainage system, the fuel door demonstrates RTR’s relentless commitment to detail.
