Mustang Week Texas 2025: RTR Goes All In for the Lone Star Debut

Everything’s bigger in Texas — and the first-ever Mustang Week Texas was no exception. Held April 24th through the 27th, this four-day celebration of Mustang culture brought out the passion, horsepower, and community that define the RTR lifestyle. No one knew exactly what to expect from this brand-new event, but what unfolded was non-stop action, unforgettable moments, and a whole lot of tire smoke. RTR was there for every second of it.

Thursday, April 24 — Track Day at MSR & Kickoff Party at The Spot

The week kicked off at MSR Houston with a full-blown track day. RTR brought out a Hyper Lime Mustang RTR Spec 3, Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Spec 5-D, and Ben Hobson’s Mustang RTR Spec 5-D, all of which saw plenty of action on track. Vaughn gave ride-alongs in the Spec 3 while Ben threw down sideways in the Spec 5-D — both pushing their cars to the limit and giving fans a taste of what Mustang performance is all about.

Some of our local RTR Authorized Dealers also showed up in style. Legacy Ford brought a Mystichrome Mustang RTR Spec 3, and Joe Myers Ford had a Carbonized Spec 2 on display. Whether you were in the paddock or out on the circuit, RTR had a presence you couldn’t miss. But the action didn’t stop there.

RTR also jumped into the competitive spirit during the Mustang Week Karting Cup, where Vaughn and Ben suited up and went head-to-head with Mustang enthusiasts on the kart track. The competition consisted of three heats, with each driver gunning for the fastest lap of the day. The winner took home a $500 cash prize and serious bragging rights. While Vaughn and Ben pushed hard, it was all about connecting with the community and sharing laughs in between karting battles. It was a perfect mix of fun and friendly rivalry.

That night, the Kickoff Party at The Spot brought everyone together near the beach. The laid-back atmosphere was the perfect contrast to the day’s adrenaline rush, and the RTR team soaked in the good vibes with fellow Mustang enthusiasts.

Friday, April 25 — Drag Day at HMP & Moody Gardens Meet-Up

Day two shifted gears to Houston Motorsports Park for the All-Ford Drag Day, but RTR kept things sideways. Vaughn and Ben took to the oval for a series of drift sessions and ride-alongs, turning the drag strip’s infield into a cloud of tire smoke. Fans lined the fences to catch the action and get a taste of what was coming on Saturday.

Later that night, the RTR rig set up shop at Moody Gardens for the Friday Night Meet-Up. With the Hyper Lime Spec 3 on display and a fleet of RTR Mustangs surrounding the booth, fans stopped by to grab new RTR merch, chat with the team, and check out a variety of Mustangs under the lights. Vaughn and Ben did a small drift demo to give everyone a taste of what they could look forward to seeing on Saturday for the main car show.

Saturday, April 26 — Mustang Week Texas Car Show & Mustang Mayhem

Saturday marked the main event — and it did not disappoint. The Mustang Week Texas Official Car Show brought out a massive crowd, and our expectations for this first-year event were absolutely blown away. The RTR booth was buzzing all day long with visitors checking out the Urban Bamboozle Spec 3 from Tindol Ford, the Shadow Black Spec 3 from Joe Myers Ford, and a wide range of RTR builds owned by passionate enthusiasts.

Two standout Mystichrome Mustang RTR Spec 3s parked near the booth drew constant attention, and we loved meeting the owners behind those builds. Vaughn and Ben hosted an autograph signing in between drift demos, making for some epic fan interactions.

All throughout the day, Vaughn and Ben offered ridealongs during their drift sessions, giving enthusiasts the chance to get an adrenaline rush from the passenger seat of one of the Mustang RTR Spec 5-Ds. Vaughn even took the Hyper Lime Mustang RTR Spec 3 out for a few rips around the drift area.

Our friends at Ford also made a major impact with Mustang Unleashed. Their immersive booth and ride-alongs in the 2025 Mustang GT and Dark Horse were a great way to show off Ford’s commitment to performance and innovation.

The day ended with Mustang Mayhem, and it was pure chaos in the best way possible. Purpose-built burnout cars and drifters tore up the burnyard, cars roasted their tires until they popped, and Shane England’s Big Kahuna Monster Truck demolished a set of cars in the middle of it all. And then, just when we thought it couldn’t get any crazier, Vaughn and Ben drifted around Big Kahuna as fireworks erupted overhead. It was a moment Mustang fans won’t forget anytime soon.

Sunday, April 27 — Cruise In & Drift Finale

Sunday wrapped things up with a more laid-back vibe, but RTR still brought the action. The Cruise In was a great way to wind down, connect with fans, and soak in the final day of Mustang Week Texas. We had the opportunity to walk around the show and spot some Mustang RTR owners and enthusiasts who equipped their Mustangs with some of the RTR components that we offer.

Vaughn even had the opportunity to take the Mustang Brand Manager out for a few hot laps before the weekend came to a close.

And right before the awards were handed out, Vaughn and Ben gave one final drift finale, sending off the weekend RTR-style — tires blazing and fans cheering.

Until Next Time, Texas

For its first year, Mustang Week Texas delivered in a big way — and RTR was proud to be part of it from start to finish. From the racetrack to the coastline, from burnouts to beach meet-ups, this event had it all. Huge thanks to all the fans who stopped by our booth, lined up for ride-alongs, grabbed merch, and shared their stories with us.

We’re already counting down the days until the next one.

Stay Ready to Rock, Texas.
