Latest timepiece features carbon fiber from Formula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr’s RTR Mustang
We first learned of REC Watches about two years ago when we got wind of their Kickstarter campaign to bring a new line of watches to market, dubbed the P-51. The P-51 would be added to REC’s line of timepieces built from recycled automobile parts. The P-51 not only reached its funding goal, it practically doubled it! The P-51 was born and has seen great success.
While REC has moved on to its latest series, the 901 (based off of Porsche 911 bits), the folks at REC recently had an opportunity to bring the P-51, which admittedly is aimed squarely at the classic Mustang crowd with its styling, to late-model Mustang fans with a partnership with Formula Drift champ and self-proclaimed “professional fun-haver” Vaughn Gittin Jr. The P-51 RTR Limited Edition. REC, which uses the tagline Recover, Recycle, Reclaim, will offer just 350 P-51 RTR watches, and just like the original P-51, each timepiece will be unique on to its own utilizing aluminum and carbon fiber from Vaughn’s Monster Energy Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5-D Formula Drift ride!
