CHELSEA DENOFA LANDS ON PODIUM AT FD GRANTSVILLE
The RTR Motorsports team descended upon Grantsville, Utah for Round 7 of Formula Drift! During qualifying James Deane took his first pole of the season with Chelsea DeNofa right behind him qualifying in 3rd place. Their strong qualifying effort awarded three championship points to James and one to Chelsea at a time when every point matters. Making his qualifying run earlier in the afternoon Vaughn Gittin Jr. would secure the 18th qualifying spot for Saturday’s competition. Qualifying 1st, 3rd, and 18th places each driver in a different section of the bracket, setting up the potential for an RTR sweep.
Chelsea DeNofa took home his second win in a row and third of the year which extended his points lead and now sits 53 points ahead with only one round remaining. This win also made it five wins in seven rounds for Team RTR this season.
Unfortunately, Chelsea would not be joined on the podium by his teammates this round. After going two OMTs with Odi, Vaughn suffered a ring and pinion failure ending his day in the Top 32. Qualifying P1 James easily advanced to the round of 16, but was knocked out by Chris Forsberg.
Vaughn Gittin Jr., Chelsea DeNofa and James Deane will next compete in the final round of the Formula Drift season in Irwindale, CA. on October 13th-14th.
